I think its almost time for an intervention....

My son's closet had gotten out of control, so I went into his room with a garbage bag today to sort thru his outgrown clothes. One garbage bag barely made a dent. Ended up with 5 garbage bags of clothes - for a future yardsale. I will eventually put the name brand clothes (Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren etc) up on ebay. Along with the rest of the clothes that I have been saving since day 1. Yes, you read that right, I probably still have 90% of the clothes he has ever worn. That's why I mentioned needing an intervention - eventually. I have it all under control now! hahaha. Out of all the clothes I went thru today, I found one that will be thrown away. See? I can throw things away. (Well not really since the shirt with holes in it is not exactly going in the trash - I will take it to our local recycling center for their "textile" recycling). It may look like a lot of clothes, but keep in mind nearly everything, with the exception of a few gifts from family, was bought pre-owned at a garage sale or a thrift store (even the dress shirt that is still in the package)

hi. if you have a lot of name brand clothes to sale, you could consider taking them to sale at a consignment shop.

Been there done that (in the past). Where I live, there absolutely is not a single consignment store within 50 miles. The one we did have closed - they priced stuff too high and the people who brought in their clothes only got a small % of the selling price plus they had to pay an annual $10 membership for the priviledge of bringing in their clothes.

I sell my son's outgrown clothes on Ebay. It is a fun hobby of mine. I search for brand name stuff at thrift stores, so then I resell it later. I'm always amazed by what people will pay for used brand name clothes!

I recently read some remarks on your blog about garage sales. I found that when I had mine I got almost a 3x multiplier in visitors when I provided them with transit directions. I used a tool from www.publicroutes.com (upper right corner) that let me embed transit directions to the garage sale. I thought I would share this tip for others to use as well in the future.
