Dog at Yardsale

I forgot to post this yesterday, about the dog I saw at a yardsale. It was at the yardsale where I bought the mystery $1 item In case you're wondering, it's an outdoor game called washers. I've never heard of it or played it. The seller said they called it "redneck horseshoes". I figured for a buck, it would give it a try. It came with a baggy of big metal washers, that you throw from a distance and try to get into the coffee can.

Anyhow, the seller had this dog with a coat of many colors. It had to be the oddest looking dog I've seen in quite a while. I asked what kind of dog it was, expecting to hear it was a mixed breed (which are pretty much the best dogs around) only to hear the seller say "Australian Shepherd". Just another reason yardsales are so awesome - for the educational factor.

Blue merle tri-color Australian Shepard or Border Collie actually. I'm leaning towards Australian Shepard. My mom raised Border Collies when I was a kid, and she bought her blue merle male from England.

my parents have one of these dogs. He is a great frisbee catcher! But he smells terrible and he growls at my kids. But then again they treat the dog better than the grandkids......

Just curious? In the local area? He looked like one of Whiskey & Rusty's friend named Merlin! Of course the owner at that time didnt seem to care much....so it wouldnt be much of a surprise if the low life owner put him up at a yardsale..... just sayin!

2ndM - no not the same dog. It was in Lusby (Ches. Woods) The owner told me how she fell instantly in love with dog when it was a puppy at a pet store. The yardsale was a moving sale - the family and the dog is moving to Greece!

More fun information--it is not unusual for a dog of this breed to have one blue eye and one brown eye. We had a dog with that combination once. I called him Frank for Sinatra ("Old Blue Eyes")

Trivial fact - border collies have tails, Aussies have only stubs or no tails. Born that way, and not altered except by people who don't know better. Most dogs with the muted coat patterns have some Aussie blood in them. Shelties also come in Blue or red Merle.

So- redneck Americans in Greece?
