What I bought at David Cassidy's Garage Sale

Over the last few days I've gotten some nice emails from other David Cassidy fans who have found my blog. I am kicking myself cuz if I knew David Cassidy still had soooooo many devoted fans all over the world I would have bought up all those towels I saw for sale and cut them into 1" squares and sold them for big bucks and now I would now be dictating this blog to my full-time assistant that I could have hired with all the money I made, while my butler feeds me bon bons. But alas, I didn't think about doing that. Crap.

At David Cassidy's garage sale, I did buy one article of clothing. (And I still have not seen what my sister purchased while there). The clothing was all disorganized and they wanted $5 a piece. I didn't feel like digging around in a cardboard box. $5 per piece of clothing is considered highway-robbery in my book. Or maybe I am just too cheap. But then I grabbed a red hat and the seller guy said it was $1. So I bought it. The extra benefit of this particular hat is that I think in some countries, I think I could use it as a Burkha if need be. Will post a pic of me in my David Cassidy hat/Burkha soon. I am calling it my David Cassidy hat, but in reality it is his son's hat Beau. How do I know? Cuz "Beau" is written in marker on the underside of the hat. I had no idea what it meant at the time but I did a"wiki David Cassidy" online search and saw that Beau is his son's name. But I am sure David must have borrowed it from time to time, you know to run out to the mailbox in the cold upstate NY winters. So therefore, it will forever be known as my David Cassidy hat and I will never ever wash it (unless of course it gets really dirty). And I may even request to be buried in it - when the time comes in 60 or 70 years.

And since the DC fans who have contacted me really liked the pictures, I thought I would add the rest of the pics.

This is what I ended up buying - a sheet of Saratoga Box seat tickets (expired of course) with David Cassidy's name on it for $5. This is not the sheet I bought - I bought ones with Aug/Sept dates on it. But there was a stack of them.

This was the lower entry to the house - sliding doors to the unfinished basement. I think that wicker furntiture was for sale. This faces the lake.

Another view of the garage sale sign with the Rodgers Lane street sign. I don't think that for-sale sign was for the rental house (just another house that was for sale on the street) and also don't think it was his garbage can either.

Hanging out on David Cassidy's patio - all the stuff was for sale.

Saratoga racing mementos (several times a racing season, they give out a freebie of some sort).

stayed tuned for me in my David Cassidy hat.

Well, how hilarious is this! David Cassidy's yardsale, I would have had to go too. Did you actually have to fly to get there, did I read that right?! Now, that's a diehard yardsale queen. Looks like an ordinary house, but glad you got to experience it. I would have never guessed that he was in that area. I thought LA for sure.

Rhoda - the real purpose of the trip was for my niece's wedding and the David Cassidy Moving Sale was just a huge bonus to the weekend.

How cool! I live about 50 miles South of DC...I had no idea David Cassidy lived in the Maryland area. :) Looks like you had a fun time! Visiting from Rhoda's party. :)

He does not live in Maryland. My previous blog postings tell the whole story.

Well, what a fun yard sale event! Although I must admit I was a bigger fan of Shawn, David was right up there! LOL Great finds!

Hi Chris,
Love your blog. I must tell you that I went to the David Cassidy moving sale and I was the first in line. Yes, finding the sale was next to impossible (I was sitting in the wrong place for close to an hour). I don't think there is enough space here to tell you my experience. I will try to sum it up. I did not tell my husband I was going. I thought I would surprise him with my loot. Well, I got some great items and he was thrilled. He told me that I should have bought everything that I could. All weekend, I had to listen to what a fool I was not to buy everything. So...Monday morning, I called the person that ran the sale. I asked if anything was left. He told me that he was cleaning the place out and that if I wanted anything, I had to take it ALL. Well, that is all I really needed to hear. I peeled out of my driveway (only kidding) and bought the rest that did not sell. I made trips all day to fill up my car, unload and kept going back to fill up and unload. I filled our entire garage. My happy husband came home and opened the garage door to pull his car in. His happy face turned to not so happy very quickly. He asked me what I was going to do with all of this stuff and wanted to know how long it would take me to clean the garage. Well, you know, that was not really a concern of mine. I told him that I listened to him and I took his advice. That went over really well, ha.ha.

I got that towel you wanted. Would you like me to send it to you? I also got the rest of the clothes (names I never heard of, they must come straight from the runway), pots, pans, dishes, Christmas ornaments, linens, decorating items, throw pillows, curtains, lamps, and the list goes on and on. I spent so much that I won't be able to eat for a month but...after I sell some things, I hope to have a lobster dinner. I wrote to Susan Cassidy and told her that I bought alot at her sale and that I would be selling stuff and donating a portion to her charity that she started, KidsCharities. I received a nice response from her, thanking me. After going to garage sales and moving sales for over 20 years, this was, by far, the best of all time. I did not get a picture of the garage sale sign. Would you consider giving me permission to use a copy of your garage sale sign picture? I took pictures of the house, but did not take the sign. You are right, after the sale was done, there was no evidence that it took place. My favorite thing that I got was David's knee length leather jacket. It is such fine leather and there is no tag, I believe it was custom made. No one can tell me what type of leather it is. I went to all of the fine stores in
Saratoga and they don't know. I also got their bathrobes. I am deciding whether to sell those or keep them in my guest room for guests. I am sorry this comment is sooooooo long, I could go on and on.
Thanks for the great blog. Have a wonderful day.

This is a hoot! I guess David Cassidy is a regular kind of guy, having a yard sale. Love it!

Ann, you should sell all that loot on eBay. You'd make some good cash.
