I'm Chris and I am addicted to yard sales, garage sales, thrift stores and bargain hunting in general. Visit my site yardsalequeen.com - which I started in 1996. "Smile" and "VV" (Vintage Value) are the names of two thrift stores I regularly shop at. I grew up in Clifton Park NY but now live in Lusby, MD. I also lived in other exciting locales such as Schenectady, Watervliet (NY), and Charleston, SC.

.10 a book? Too expensive in my book
Ok, so pictured above is the yardsale I went to on Saturday where the seller potentially had restrictions on what she would sell you. Books were .10 each but I didn't want to waste time only to possibly be told I wasn't allowed to buy something.
On Monday I went to the library to return some books and of course, had to check out their used books for sale area (.25 each or fill a grocery sized bag for $1). The same 4 or so boxes of books that were at the yardsale on Saturday were at the used book table at the library on Monday. You can tell since they didn't even remove their yardsale sticker. I bought a bag of books and my dollar went to the library.
And enough already with the small tv's at the thrift stores.
How hard would it have been for them to quickly look through the books to see if there was a gem included in the box? It probably would have taken a couple of minutes per box. Instead she turned off buyers by putting up that sign.
ReplyDeleteThis is the good page with good images and good details. Please keep on posting the more stuff. I will like to hear more from you.
ReplyDeleteI hate when people do that...you get up there to pay and then all of a sudden they act like the book you found is their favorite book and they don't want to sell it or want to charge you an arm and a leg......
ReplyDeleteI agree with Donna. That just makes the seller sound LAZY. How annoying.
