I'm Chris and I am addicted to yard sales, garage sales, thrift stores and bargain hunting in general. Visit my site yardsalequeen.com - which I started in 1996. "Smile" and "VV" (Vintage Value) are the names of two thrift stores I regularly shop at. I grew up in Clifton Park NY but now live in Lusby, MD. I also lived in other exciting locales such as Schenectady, Watervliet (NY), and Charleston, SC.

Shaving Brush Collection
I thought I would share a pic of one of my collections - this is my shaving brush collection. I look for them when I'm yardsaling but I'm not fanatical about buying them. I don't look for them in high priced antique stores or buy them on ebay. Just look for ones priced cheap at yardsales. They are lined up above the lighting fixture in my bathroom. I guess my fascination with shaving brushes started early - here I am with Dad getting my first shave. The brush that is second from the left belonged to my grandfather.
Cute picture, Chris!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the "vintage" (sorry!) photo! ;) I think the shaving brushes are SO neat!
ReplyDeleteI thought the pic would look cuter if I edited it to make it look like a real vintage photo from the '60's. So I'm glad u appreciated my work ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the shaving brush idea. My father left our family when I was 2 weeks old, so I didn't grow up with a Dad. My mother, a postwoman, fell in love with a postman when I was six and married him in December. I had never seen a man shave before and I was facinated with watching him on the first Saturday after they returned from their honeymoon. The next morning, he soaped me up too and held me up to see in the bathroom mirror and we both said "HO HO HO" (remember it was before Christmas). His shaving brush was the first thing I asked for after he past away 4 years ago.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nudging my memory.
Oooh, just when I was thinking I don't want ANY collections!
